Casino games’ world is full of stereotypes. One of the more commonly extended is without any doubt the one that affirms that men are better playing casino games than women. This stereotype derives from the fact that traditionally men spend more time at the casinos, and therefore it is assumed that they must also play better. Other casino myth is the one that affirms that men are better than women at playing table games, while women prefer to play other type of games like slot machines or video poker.
However a study realized by Harvard University among 40.499 people showed that those stereotypes are far from being true. In fact, women showed to be more aggressive placing bets, gambling an average of 15 euros more than the men and placing 15% more bets in the same period of time. In the same way, they also obtained a 15% more benefit than the males.
Even though this is not a conclusive study, it clearly shows that the typical stereotypes related with casino games are very out of date.
One of the reasons that may explain the results of the Harvard University study is the proliferation of online casinos, which have influenced the fact that nowadays there are a bigger number of female players that before.
